Allison was a beautiful blond girl taken from us at 19 years old. She was killed as a passenger in a car driven by Trey Merritt, an acquaintance of hers. She chose to ride with him even though he had gotten drunk at his party in the country. He skidded on a curve and hit a post going over 90mph. She was killed instantly, he died about an hour later. This happened after 1AM in northern Anderson County while he was driving to his home in Easley. Some of her friends were driving her car following them and called for help. He was drunk, but she had only traces of alcohol in her system. She did not drink. We were all devastated. How could this happen to us, to Lynn and Steve, their only daughter, such a beautiful girl not even grown. This was on Feb 25, 1996. There was a huge outpouring of visitors at her viewing, though the casket had to be closed. Over 3000 people came to mourn with the family at Concord Baptist Church from 6:30PM to after 11:30 PM. It was the largest viewing known ever at that church or even in Anderson and quite a tribute to her. We will never forget her. Her parents made over a $300,000 contribution to help build a sports stadium at her high school dedicated to her in "celebration of life". A marble memorial to Allison is located at the stadium. Lynn and Steve also contributed $25,000 to erect the steeple at Concord Church in her honor. She had visited the steeple on the ground with some children she drove there the day before she died.
